In accordance with the most recent education reforms and our own mission statement, Casa Montagna is now offering the experience of School in the Mountains: we are offering a week’s stay in the mountains for primary and middle school pupils (6-14 year olds) from all over the world.
The course consists of :
- normal school lessons, with an emphasis on the mountain environment (flora, fauna, traditions etc)
- mountain sports: such as mountain-walking, climbing, cross-country skiing and mountain biking
- general sports activities using the gym and local sports facilities.
There will also be opportunities for entertainment as well as getting to meet people from other cultures and joining in an intercultural exchange.
The inspiration behind The School in the Mountains and the International Youth Festival was the idea of offering youngsters from all over the world the chance to get together and share experiences.
This aim is particularly relevant in today’s globalized world.
School and Extra-curricular activities: educational itineraries
In today’s world, more than ever before, the school cannot be considered the only means of education in our fast and rapidly changing society. Our society produces an immeasurable amount on information which it attempts to classify into new subject areas.
The school can maintain its central role only if it manages to acknowledge the demand for change from the various sectors of production – not only of material goods - but also of ideas. It needs to be able to make its own cultural models which are suited to the complex world we live in.
It has to value its own human resources , bringing up the new generations so that they are equipped with the knowledge, skills and abilities which will be demanded of them in the outside world.
